API 4 1/2 REG Regular Rotary Working Thread Ring and Plug Gauge with GCr15 Tool Steel for High Wear-Resistance
Description:
API Spec 7-2 4 1/2 REG Regular Rotary Thread Ring Plug Gauge is a traditional tapered thread joint designed for oil gas drilling tools, including drill pipe, drill collar and crossover subs. REG connections feature tapered V shape threads with 60° thread angle. Multiple sizes are available from 1 REG up to 8 5/8 REG.
REG joints were widely adopted for drilling strings in the early oilfield industry. Currently REG is mostly seen on legacy, older generation drilling equipment and used for repair & overhaul work.
Regular Rotary Connection thread gauges (ring & plug gauges) are measuring instruments manufactured per API Spec 7 2 standard.
Made of GCr15 tool steel with hardness reaching 60 63HRC, delivering high wear resistance, stable dimensional accuracy and long service life. Every gauge is fully inspected and supplied with official calibration certificate before shipment.
Available variants: Working gauge or Master gauge; Ring gauge, Plug gauge or complete Ring & Plug gauge set.
Some corresponding thread sizes are interchangeable with legacy IF drill string connections.

Precautions:
1. It is not allowed to touch the working surface of the gauge with your hands, so as not to cause rust.
2. Inspect regularly to see if there is any damage, rust or deformation. If you find that the gauge begins to rust,
you should put it in gasoline and soak it for a period of time, then take it out and wipe it carefully, and apply anti-rust oil.
3. Do not save the working surfaces of the two gauges together, otherwise the two working surfaces
will be glued to each other, and the gauge will be unnecessarily damaged when separated by external force.
4. After used the threaded gauges, it should be wiped clean and stored under dry condition.
Applications:
Regular rotary master gauges are mainly used in the petroleum oil and gas industry.
FAQ:
Q1: What is the current application of REG connections in the industry?
A: REG joints were widely used for drilling strings in the early oilfield industry. At present, they are mostly found on legacy, older generation drilling equipment and applied for repair & overhaul work.
Q2: What standard do REG rotary thread gauges comply with?
A: All Regular Rotary Connection thread gauges (ring gauges and plug gauges) are manufactured in accordance with API Spec 7-2 standard.
Q3: Why shall we not touch the working surface of the gauge by hand?
A: Hand sweat, moisture and grease may cause rust on the precision working surface, damage thread accuracy and shorten service life.
