Key tips for accurate measurement--- How to adjust the measuring range of dial bore gauge?

November 18, 2024

As a high-precision measuring tool, the dial bore gauge is widely used in machining, automobile manufacturing

and other fields. Range adjustment is a key step to ensure accurate measurements. In this article, we will explain

in detail how to adjust the range of the dial gauge and share some practical tips for accurate measurement.

Ⅰ. Structure of dial bore gauge

1. The inner diameter dial indicator is mainly composed of dial indicator, handle, probe, measuring rod etc.

2. The measuring rod is the key component for measurement, and its length determines the range of

the measuring range. The probe is in contact with the workpiece to be measured, transmitting dimensional

    changes to the pointer.

3. The adjustment screw is the key to adjust the range, and the extension length of the measuring rod can

be changed by rotating the adjustment nut, so as to change the range.latest company news about Key tips for accurate measurement--- How to adjust the measuring range of dial bore gauge? 0

Ⅱ. Measuring range adjustment steps

1. Determine the required measurement range. The range of the dial bore gauge should be slightly larger than

the size range of the workpiece to be measured to ensure the measurement accuracy.

2. Loosen the locking screw on the dial indicator.

3. Rotate the adjustment screw to change the extension length of the measuring rod. Rotating clockwise reduces

the range, and counterclockwise expands the range.

4. After the adjustment is completed, lock the locking screw to prevent the range from changing.

Ⅲ. Tips for accurate measurements

1. Ensure that the workpiece to be measured is clean and free of impurities such as oil and dust,

so as not to affectthe measurement accuracy.

2. The probe should be perpendicular to the surface of the workpiece to be measured to avoid oblique

    measurement, otherwise errors will occur.

3. When reading, the line of sight should be perpendicular to the pointer to avoid errors caused by parallax.

4. The average value of multiple measurements can effectively reduce the random error and improve

    the measurement accuracy.
