Titanium Weld Neck Flange is a type of welding flange commonly used for pipe connections. It consists of two main parts: the flange and the neck. A flange is a flat circular metal ring with holes for bolted connections. The neck is a long cylindrical body connected to the pipe, and the inner hole matches the diameter of the pipe.
Slip-On Titanium Flange are flanges in which pipe fittings or other components are inserted into the flange and connected to equipment or pipelines through fillet welds.
The main differences between titanium weld neck flange and slip-on titanium flange lie in the different weld forms, nominal pressures, and connection methods, as follows:
1.The weld forms are different: The weld seams of flat welding cannot be inspected by radiographic testing, while those of butt welding can. The weld seam form of slip-on titanium flange between the pipe and the flange is fillet weld, while that of titanium weld neck flange between the pipe is ring weld. Flat welding is two fillet ring welds, while butt welding is one butt ring weld. The difference between the slip-on titanium flange and the neck-free flat welding flange lies in that the slip-on titanium flange has one more area at the pipeline welding position than the neck-free flat welding flange. The neck-free flat welding flange is also known as the flat flange. The protruding part without the flange is also a flat fillet weld. The weld seam of the titanium weld neck flange connected to the pipe belongs to Class B seam, and the weld seam of the neck flat welding flange connected to the pipe belongs to Class C. The non-destructive testing after welding is different.
2. Different nominal pressures: The nominal pressure of slip-on titanium flange is 0.6- 4.0MPa, while that of titanium weld neck flange is: For grades 1- 25MPa, obviously, the slip-on titanium flange is suitable for a lower pressure grade.
3. Different connection methods: The biggest structural difference between slip-on titanium flange and titanium weld neck flange lies in the different connection methods of the nozzles and flanges. slip-on titanium flange is generally where the pipe is joined at the corner with the flange, while titanium weld neck flange is where the flange is joined with the pipe.
When choosing the type of flange, the pressure grade, medium characteristics and installation environment should be comprehensively considered. For medium and low pressure scenarios, slip-on titanium flange with high economy can be given priority. If high temperature, high pressure or hazardous media are involved, the high strength and sealing property of titanium weld neck flange are even more crucial. Correct selection can not only ensure the safety of the pipeline system, but also optimize the project cost and efficiency.
