We supply a wide series of indicators to fit any application and meet any different measurement requirement. In this article, we will mainly introduce different types of indicators and magnetic stand holders.
As a precision measuring instrument, indicators features with a gear-driven pointer, mainly used for relative measurements of length dimensions and shape and position deviations. It can also be used for positioning and indication in some machine tools or measuring devices.
Depending on their structure and purpose, indicators include dial indicators, dial test indicators and digital indicators.
Mechanical dial indicator used to check various tolerances of manufactured parts. In many applications for manufacturing, the dial gauge is an instrument that can measure with precision accurately, they are the most flawless tool used for linear measurement, due to the small tolerances, the size of the tool is very compact and thus, it can be seamlessly in mass production. Dial indicator is also useful in dimension control and used to measure deviations by aligning with some other attachments.
The metric measurement ranges of the dial indicators are from 0-3mm, 0-5mm, 0-10mm, and in larger ranges from 0-15mm, 0-20mm, 0-25mm,0-30mm, 0-35mm, 0-40mm, 0-45mm, 0-50mm, and 0-100mm, with graduation of 0.01mm. The The higher reading dial indicator has measurement ranges of 0-1mm, 0-3mm, and 0-5mm, with graduation of 0.001mm. There also available with 0-10mm, 0-25mm, 0-20mm, 0-25mm, 0-30mm with graduation of 0.1mm.
The inch measurement ranges of the dial indicators are from 0-0.1in, 0-0.2in,0-0.25in, 0-0.5in, 0-1in, 0-2in, and in larger ranges from 0-3in and 0-4in,with graduation of 0.001in. The higher reading dial indicator has measurement ranges of 0-0.1in, 0-0.2in,0-0.25in, 0-0.5in, 0-1in, with graduation of 0.0001in and 0.0005in.
Dial test indicator is also known as a lever arm test indicator, lever dial gauge or finger indicator, has a smaller measuring range rather than standard dial indicator, dial test indicator has a variety of advantages, such as small size, high precision, strong adaptability, etc., especially suitable for places where it is difficult to measure with general dial indicators. It is small in size and high in precision, and is suitable for the condition where the dial indicator is difficult to measure.
The metric measurement range of dial test indicator includes 0-0.5mm and 0 to 0.8mm with graduation of 0.01mm; the higher reading has a measurement range of 0 to 0.2mm with graduation of 0.002mm.
The inch measurement range of dial test indicator includes 0-0.03in and 0-0.02in with graduation of 0.0005in; the higher reading has a measurement range of 0-0.008in with graduation of 0.0001in.
Compared with mechanical indicator, digital indicator features with electronic digital display has advantage of accurate , convenient reading and high accuracy and can direct switch metric to inch conversion, zero setting at any position, power on/off and data output multifunction. Digital indicator is an ideal tool for mechanical, industrial processes and laboratory use.
The digital indicator has measurement ranges of 0-12.7mm/0-0.5in, 0-25.4mm/0-1in, 0-50mm/0-2in and 0-100mm/0-4in with resolution of 0.01mm/0.0005’’. The higher reading measurement ranges including 0-12.7mm/0-0.5in, 0-25.4mm/0-1in, 0-50mm/0-2in and 0-100mm/0-4in, with resolution of 0.001mm/0.00005’’
Indicators must be securely mounted such as on a comparator stand or magnetic base for precision measurement, here we introduce several types of the magnetic stands:
By structural type:
1. Standard Magnetic Base: This type has a relatively simple structure and typically consists of a magnetic base, a fixed support, and a gauge mounting device. The magnetic base is used to adhere to metal workpieces or machine tool tables, the fixed support provides stability. Its features include a compact structure and relatively low cost, making it suitable for situations where measurement precision is not particularly high and the measuring environment is relatively simple.
2. Universal Magnetic Base: This type features universal support arms, allowing for flexible adjustment in multiple directions. It can hold measuring tools at any angle and position, making it more convenient and quick to use. This type of magnetic base is widely used in various machine tools, as well as in scientific research at research institutions and universities, making it an indispensable tool in measurement work.
3. Magnetic Base with Fine Adjustment: This type adds a fine-tuning device based on the standard or universal magnetic base. The fine-tuning device allows for precise adjustments of the position of measuring tools to meet high precision requirements. Fine-tuning magnetic bases are typically used in situations requiring high measurement accuracy, such as in precision machining and aerospace fields.
By Drive Method:
1. Mechanical Magnetic Base: Controls and adjusts magnetic force through mechanical structures. The advantages of mechanical magnetic bases include simple structure, high reliability, and lower cost; while there needs for a certain amount of force during operation.
2. Hydraulic Magnetic Base: With a hydraulic system to control the magnetic force and adjust the position of measuring tools. Hydraulic magnetic bases have advantages such as high adjustment precision, ease of operation, and labor-saving features, enabling quick and accurate fixation of measuring tools in the desired position, as well as the capability for fine adjustment. While, their structure is relatively complex, costs are higher, and they require regular maintenance and upkeep.
By Magnetic Force and Size:
1.Small Magnetic Stand: They have relatively weak magnetic force, like 30kg and 50kg as well as small size, usually suitable for small workpieces or measurement occasions with low magnetic requirements. They are compact, lightweight, easy to carry and operate, and also relatively inexpensive.
2. Medium Magnetic Stand: They have moderate magnetic force like 60kg, 80kg as well as medium size, which can meet the needs of most common measurement work. This type of magnetic base is widely used in industrial production, offering good versatility and cost-effectiveness.
3. Large Magnetic Stand: They have strong magnetic force like 100kg, 130kg as well as long arm, suitable for large workpieces or measurement occasions with high magnetic requirements. Large magnetic bases usually have a larger base and longer support arms, providing sufficient support and stability to ensure measurement accuracy.
